7 Essential iPhone Settings for Professional Travel Photos

In 2026, the best travel camera is the one you already have in your pocket. However, most travelers are only using about 10% of their iPhone's actual photographic power. If you want to move beyond "holiday snaps"and start capturing gallery-quality images for your blog or social media, you need to treat yoiur iPhone like a professional mirrorless camera.

By tweaking just a few hidden settings, you can drastically improve the clarity, color and composition of your shots. Here are the 7 essential iPhone settings you should change before your next trip.

1.Enable the Grid (The Rule of Thirds)
Composition is what separates a snapshot from a photograph. Go to Settings>Camera>Grid and toggle it on. This overlays a 3x3 grid on your screen. Place your subject -- like a lone tree in the outback or a surfer at Bondi- along the lines or at the intersections. This "Rule of Thirds" creates a much more balanced and professional look.

2.Shoot in Apple ProRAW (48MP)
If you have a Pro model (iPhone 12 Pro or later), you must enable ProRAW. Go to Settings>Camera>Formats and turn on ProRAW and Resolution Control.
Why It Matters: Standard JPEGs are heavily processed. ProRAW retains the "raw" data, giving you massive flexibility to fix shadows and highlights later in apps like Lightroom or VSCO. For the highest detail, ensure your resolution is set to 48MP.

3.Master the AE/AF Lock
Ever take a photo where the sky is a "blown out" white mess? Tap and hold on the brightest part of your screen until you see AE/AF Lock in yellow. Now, slide the little sun icon next to the box down. This manually lowers the exposure, preserving the deep blues of the ocean or the vibrant oranges of a sunset.

4.Use Photographic Styles
Instead of using filters after you shoot, use Photographic Styles (Settings>Camera>Photographic Styles). Unlike filters, these change the way the camera processes skin  tones and textures in real-time. Choosing the "rich contrast" or "Vibrant" style can give  your travel photos a distant "look" that feels consistent across your entire blog.

5.Turn Off "View Outside the Frame"
This setting can be distracting when trying to compose a perfect shot. Go to Settings>Camera and turn off View Outside the Frame. This ensures that what you see on the screen is exactly what is being captured, helping you avoid unwanted tourists or trash cans creeping into the edges of your photo.

6.Toggle Macro Control-Turn on Lens Correction
Lens Correction automatically fixes distortion around the edges of ultra-wide photos. This setting is particularly useful when photographing:
-Architecture
-Cathedrals
-Bridges
-Scenic viewpoints
-National parks

Straight lines stay straighter, giving your photos a cleaner, more polished appearance.

7.Enable Live Photos (When Approriate)
Live Photos capture a few seconds before and after each shot.
This kind of feature is ideal for:
-Waterfalls
-Ocean waves
-Street performers
-Wildlife
-Family travel moments

Bonus Photography Tips:
To get even better travel photos:
-Clean your camera lenses before every shoot.
-Tap to focus on your main subject.
-Adjust exposure by sliding your finger up or down after tapping the screen.
-Take advantage of natural lighting during the "golden hour" shortly after sunrise or before sunset.
-Avoid using digital zoom whenever possible- move closer to your subject instead.

Conclusion:

Professional travel photography doesn't require expensive gear. With the right iPhone camera settings and a little practice, you can capture stunning images that preserve your adventures for years to come. Before your next trip, take a few minutes to enable these settings and experiment with different compositions. You may be surprised at how much your travel photos improve.  Whether you're documenting a weekend getaway or a journey around the world, your iPhone is a powerful creative tool that's always in your pocket.

Saying Goodbye to 2019

Saying goodbye is sometimes a difficult thing to do especially if we cherish those memories that go along with the event. And as we almost end the month of December now, maybe it is beneficial for us to think about how the year 2019 pass through.

What have we achieved so far during the course of this year? How did we spend most of our time month by month? Were we

generous enough to share our precious moment most notably with the special people in our life? Or where we were merely focused on things, activities, and others which were important to us and no one else? Let us rethink about all those moments and reflect on how could we possibly improve during the coming year.

When we close the door of this year 2019, let us welcome with much energy the new year 2020 and grateful to the chance of embracing another year, let us all say goodbye to the year that has been and with open arms and hearts, welcome the new year with much love and awe.

This Education Called LIFE

Note:" This post may contain affiliate links. I may earn a commission at no extra cost to you."

Have you ever wondered what exactly happened to our life? As we journey through life, let us then take a break every now and then in order to reflect on our past events. As we do that, we can realise that it is as if we are reading a book- the book of our life. With that reflection,  we should always be glad to be active participants of such journey. As we wake up each day, fresh and new learnings embrace us and they could help us proceed with our own development.

On the other hand, there is no such limit and boundary over our learnings. It only takes our commitment to participate fully in this journey which expect us to make a difference in our life. One noteworthy

in life is when we share our various giftedness with each other. As we go on with our everyday learnings, we also grow in our awareness over life's excellent stories.

As one writer would tell us, he said that " Self-education is, I firmly believe that the only kind of education there is." -Isaac Asimov.  One way or the other, we could agree with Isaac and that as we enter each day, we as a result start to learn new things that contribute colours to this wonderful journey. Numerous people have joined us in this journey most notably those significant others in our life.

Hence, as we go on with this trip called LIFE, may we also unceasingly reflect on Isaac's words above and let us be the best persons that we can be. As such, all of us can become agents of joy and growth for others.

Sharing Some Kindergarten Experiences of My Child

As my child ended his pre- school experiences in his centre, as one of those parents watching the journey of these four year old kids, I was also filled with pride, extreme joy, gratitude and satisfaction  as my child finished his kindergarten days.

As a parent, it is my joy to share some of the highlights of my kid's journey this year. One of those activities on which the children enjoyed so much was their exploration of the writing table area. It was on this activity that they made learnings and fun on letters and on frequency words.

What was also striking in their journey was the using of the choice self and also to be respectful on how to care for the equipment. The Centre also has a dramatic play area and the kids had the chance to explore it. Then later on this year, they had some Christmas focused activities and just by watching a part of these activities in school, I had no doubt that indeed, the kids had a great time and many moments of bonding with each other.

Hence, it is with so much joy that I express my gratitude to all the staff of the pre- school of my son and with this opportunity, for sure they became instruments in moulding the character of my son and the other kids.

Adding Spices to Life

As we usher into this new year, we also think about how could we improve our everyday living most notably those of our loved ones. The lessons we have learned from last year will lead us into the right way towards our goal of self perfection. No matter how one clings to the past, yet we could never bring back one past experience to the present moment.

Hence, as the days of this new year begin to unfold each day, let us also learn how to add ingredients to our relationships so as to ensure a life worth living for on this new year. We could look for innovations so that our activities will become interesting and amazing.

Like when we deal with free time, let us ensure that we spend it on such a quality time with our loved ones, making it sure that our other lopsided gimmicks will not interfere with our more meaningful interactions with loved ones. Considering the modern day evolution of gadgets such as cell phones, and other hi- tech ones, let us not allow them to be our excuses so that we will deprive our loved ones with the basic needs in life especially our LOVE.

When we constantly realise the impact of our essential relationships with others then we can also spend time to leisurely and productively be with them. To put icing on the cake, let us make our loved as our top priority everyday after all, they are the main source of our energy and strength.

How to Organise One's Day

While thinking about what to blog, I tried to reflect on all my activities today and I realised that not just once this day that I just sit idly and hopping from one thing to the other. To cut it short, some time this day, I was not sure what to spend with my time and my energy.

Hence, I wonder if how many out there are also like me....that at a certain time, you also just sitting idly and wondering what to do with one's time. It is somehow a given fact that there are really instances we just don't know what to do with our time.

Priorities are very essential in our life. I have mentioned it on my previous post before with my other blog that we need to constantly identify and hold on to our long time and short time priorities. We need to identify what are those we treasure most in life. Though I believe that they (priorities) may differ from me to you but I know so well that our respective families take the primary place among them.

Hence, before going to rest, let us try to look back each day and check if we have been faithful to our priorities for the day.

Brings Tears of Joy to My Eyes

Brings tears of joy to my eyes- Have you got into such kind of experience lately? I mean crying is such a universal thing that it could never be labeled as something likened to one's weakness or downfall....or tears on itself could mean agony.....

We are into this world wherein when one shares some tears, he or she could then be judged as undergoing certain level pf pain YET the big thing is that his act of crying can therefore be the so called " tears of joy inside out"...the result of a very positive experience.

imageccredit:
We have various chapters in life. Yet in those chapters, they are always covered into two opposing parts - the positive and the negative. We cherish the positive and assess whatever is negative. Some of those moments that could either give us tears of joy are the following:

- winning the lottery
- having a baby for the first time
- recovery from a serious illness
- coming home of a lost loved one
- reconciling with a dear one
- having the chance to travel to a dreamland

It is said that crying is a very good form of exercise both physically and emotionally since it allows the release of those negative energies stored in our body and mind. Hence, we should never be ashamed to cry even if others misconceived it as a sign of weakness for what counts most is that we are true to ourselves- we show to the world how we feel inside of us.
