A Prayer For My Children

Borrowed Post:

Thank you for entrusting these
precious children into my care.

I pray that You will grant them
complete knowledge of Your will.

Bless them with all spiritual
wisdom and understanding.

I pray that my children
will always honour and please you, Father.
May their lives produce every kind of good fruit.

All the while, I ask that they will
grow to know You more deeply.

Through your power,
give them the endurance
and patience they need.

May they always be filled
with gratitude toward You.

AMEN.

based on Colossians1:9-11

Special thanks to Saint Stephen's Catholic Primary School for sharing this prayer on their Newsletter issue Monday, 20th February 2017. Our beloved son, Kurt, goes to this school and I greatly appreciate the kind of journey that he is taking there through the guidance of his teacher, Laura, all the teachers, staff and their principal, Christine.

Live Life Through Examples

Have you heard about the life of an extraordinary woman named Mother Teresa? It was said that at the time of her death, she was able to establish 517 missions allowing the sick and the poor  in more than 100 countries. Some people called this mission of the ever loved Mother Teresa as "homes for the dying" and this was well confirmed as well by those doctors who have seen several of these establishments in Calcutta.

And when you reflect on your present state of life, you then could find out that life exactly is
made up of two sides- the good and the bad. Don't ever focus on the bad rather stay your
energy on what is positive in life. Setting herself as an example of good deeds, Mother
Teresa concretely served as a concrete manifestation of courage and of goodness on earth
in spite of all its complexities.

During her lifetime, she extended deeds which could be considered as concrete examples
of love to others even to the point of sacrificing her own life for others.

" Throughout her life on earth, and now even more fully in the Kingdom, she stands as a beacon of light reflecting the heart of GOD to those who seek him, who seek signs of his nearness and care in the darkness of human suffering and sin"- Rev. Joseph Langford

If you look around you, you can discover in our present world today all the wounds of society. Values are sacrificed for personal interest, many are blinded by this sin of greediness inside of man. However, if you also reflect on the examples of Mother Teresa, then you can ever share a sigh of relief, after all, kindness is still very much alive in somebody else's heart.

Sharing Our Blessings to the Needy

1 "(But) take care not to perform righteous deeds in order that people may see them; otherwise, you will have no recompense from your heavenly Father.
2
When you give alms, do not blow a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites 2 do in the synagogues and in the streets to win the praise of others. Amen, I say to you, they have received their reward.
3
But when you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right is doing,
4
so that your almsgiving may be secret. And your Father who sees in secret will repay you. (Source)

What I personally like with this biblical point from St. Matthew is that it subjectively tells us how to do the right thing when we share our gifts to the needy.  Basically there are two kinds of giver on this world: the authentic ones and the bent arrow helpers.

As what has been laid out above, the real sense of giving is one that is given without expecting something in return. I salute all those people who have shared their resources like money, time, effort, possessions etc. with others especially in those moments of calamity. As St. Matthew was reminding us above, let us always be careful in making deeds of generosity for we don't know that we are performing them not out of our hearts' generosity but out of a desire that is self serving.

On the other hand, although many are helped also by those donors and donations with self bested interests most notably coming from people in politics and other forms of service but in so many instances, it is disheartening to realise that the poor are make poorer by this wronged act. Moreover, others do the act in such a way that its attributes are just to boost one's ego and popularity. And sometimes, what makes it worse is when the needy are sort of being taken advantage of their misery.

Thus, when we have the desire to assist others to free them from their sufferings, let us do it with a pure intention and in a way that will help them get up then continue with their life. After all, life is such a special gift that ought to be shared with others.

What I Want My Kid To Remember During The Holidays

Note: "As an  Amazon Associate, I earn fromqualifying purchases. Amazon and Amazon logo are trademarks of Amazon.com,Inc. or its affiliates."

Amidst the business of this holiday season, we are caught up, at times, in a day to day bickering due to all its fast changing paces. However, when we come to our loved ones especially with our kids, nevertheless we consistently see to it that we leave them nothing but the most positive influences in life.

Personally, I want my kid to remember especially on this season the idea of sharing. In fact, I believe in what others say that one of the most essential things in life is sharing. Yes. That's exactly what I want my little boy to remember when he becomes a grown up. I want him to relive and relive the feeling of being so wonderful when he is able to share his presence, time, skills etc. with others. The idea of sharing goes beyond one's limitations such as physical, social, spiritual. Although it is a fact that we all have our own limitations yet what counts most for us all is that we can muster sufficient courage to embrace them and move on with life.
Melbourne's Yarra River: by Angelyn Vania Sihombing

I need to show to my kid that one's real strength goes deeper and never lies merely on the surface. Moreover, at times, paradoxically, we come to terms just with our own weaknesses and never appreciates our own strength. That's exactly what I want to impart with  my kid that when he grows up, essential things in life are those which are kept deep in ourselves such as our values and traits.....considered as our treasures and beyond any price.

MY DAILY INSPIRATION

Our household community recently held its regular get together. And the last time we met, it allowed me to renew my self and gain further strength to go on with life. My fellow brothers and sisters were so enthusiastic to share their own moments with their loved ones. Hearing all of these, I came into a realization how marvelous life is. Being with loved ones and with friends are favorable circumstances that enable me to go deeper of myself and look back if where am I leading to in my own journey.

Having said that, I know beforehand that my time is spent positively unlike when I will merely spend it to just stay it in idleness thus allowing me to just dumb myself with nonsense things. I admire the sincerity of my brothers and sisters in our sharing for this openness allowed me to have a deep understanding of themselves and of myself.

Treasured moments like this are nevertheless imprinted in my heart and when I go back to my own self, this will serve as one experience that I can recall and extract strength. "I gain my strength from my husband and he does the same. Yet at one time, I realized that it is actually from God whom I am getting this real strength to face this life's struggles and trials"- Thus came one of the realizations of our sister in the group. While listening to this, I continued closing my eyes and inaudibly murmured to myself, "she is not alone in that predicament for that is exactly what I'm doing in my own trial stages".

Yes, everything lies in my God. He is my  main source of strength aside from my family (wife and little boy). Knowingly or unknowingly, He consistently guides me into the right path. To boot, He draws everything in me. Without His guidance, I am nothing.  "In Jesus, and through the relationship He offers me, I find my hope…He is my strength — my peace, my purpose and my power.:-Sylene Mack- president-Transformed by Grace community.  Thus, I offer to Him everything in my life-my joys, my treasures, pains, aspirations etc. Going back to our community, I am so grateful to have encountered the bond of friendship with these people. And as we proceed with our respective journeys in life, may the guiding hand of our Divine Creator continue to inspire and mold us into persons whom He wanted us to be.

A SHARED PRAYER

This day, I would like to share with you this very inspiring prayer from Everyday Prayers. What is emphasized on this prayer is the basic relationship between a parent and his/her child. The development of any child is very much anchored on the kind of treatment that the parents are extending to him/her.
